MPower Space is an international calling and messaging app for people who live and work across languages. The app is free. You pay only for calls to ordinary phone numbers, and the call translates itself live.
The Problem
Millions of people around the world work, hire and trade across a language barrier. Calling family back home or a supplier abroad means paying international rates, and calling someone who does not share your language usually means finding an interpreter or simply not making the call.
Our Approach
MPower Space translates your call while you are on it. You speak your language, the other person hears theirs, spoken aloud, across 57 languages. Calls and messages between MPower users are free. Calls to ordinary phone numbers are billed by the minute from a prepaid balance in USD.
What We Build On
Live Voice Translation
57 languages, spoken aloud during the call. On app-to-app calls each side automatically hears their own language; on calls to ordinary numbers you pick the other side's language.
Free Between Users
Calls, video calls, messages, media and stories between MPower users cost nothing. You only pay to reach ordinary phone numbers.
Your Own Number
Verify your number once with our carrier and your international calls carry it as caller ID, billed per minute from your prepaid balance. Until then they go out on a shared MPower Space number.
Why We Built It
“In this country the person on the other end of the line very often does not speak your language. We did not set out to build another calling app. We wanted the language barrier to stop being the reason a call never happens. Translation runs during the call, sentence by sentence, so both sides can simply talk.”
